Drayton Manor

The Vekoma Boomerang is one of the most common roller coaster designs in the world, with more than fifty installations worldwide. The design of this ride is too intense for younger children, and thus Vekoma has recently introduced a family friendly model. Ben 10 - Ultimate Mission (#1640) is the first installation of the new design. The layout is fairly simple, and not terribly intense especially in the reverse direction, but it is fun nevertheless, and the park has done a fine job with the theming. The only black mark is a ban on glasses, which is faintly ridiculous on a ride with no inversions; come on Drayton Manor, you know better than that...

Adventure Island

Glorious sunshine in the Southend area meant huge volumes of people, and consequentially it took me half an hour to locate a parking space which in itself was fifteen minutes walk from the park. This time loss, and a theatre booking for the evening, meant that I only had enough time for a hit and run lap on the new Kiddi Koasta (#1641). The new ride is a step up from the ubiquitous Wacky Worm, making it the perfect training coaster for younger children working their way up to bigger things.
