The final day of this long weekend break began with a two hour drive from Abu Dhabi to the Bawadi Mall, located in Al Ain near the border with Oman. The operator on Roller Coaster (#1611) told us that his ride breaks down regularly, as we found out the hard way last year, and as such it was a pleasant surprise to find it in working order today. The layout turned out to be fairly decent, with free spinning cars that could really go for it when loaded with one passenger sitting in an edge seat!
Dubai Global Village
16th January 2011
Dubai Global Village is a large international market that runs for three months of the year. Attached to one corner is a decent sized fair run by Freij Entertainment, one of the largest players in the region. As night had yet to fall, we began our visit with the Freij Wheel, a Ronald Bussink ferris wheel with fully enclosed cars, familiar to European readers as the same design regularly promoted by World Tourist Attractions.
With that finished, we tried the three roller coasters; a Wild Mouse (#1612), the Miami Dolphins (#1613), and the Brucomela, the latter being a repeat from my trip last October. There was also a fairly decent Dark Ride with suspended cars, with scenery that was well above what might be expected for a travelling ride.
